Introduction to Portrait Photography – Composition

Time and date: August 20th, 9:30am. 90 Minute workshop.

Location: Lincoln Park, Alameda, Ca.

Cost: $40. 4 of 8  slots remaining.

In this workshop we introduce the fundamental building blocks of any photo or piece of visual art, followed by easy-to-apply guidelines for improving photographic compositional techniques.  You will not only learn how to create more-pleasing images, but will also learn how to “see” more effectively.  Darwin also gives each student, if desired, the opportunity to have their work critiqued as part of the interactive discussion.

Some techniques we will go over include:

  • Rule of thirds
  • Frames and filling the frame
  • Background awareness
  • Perspective

Skill Level Requirement:This course is suitable for anyone interested in composition “theory” and practical application.  It is taught independent of photography skill level, and is even appropriate for painters and other visual artists.

Equipment Requirements: A digital camera.  The type of digital camera you have is not important to this workshop.
